We are looking for trainees to join our City Works team to focus on concreting or civil construction. Traineeships are a great way to achieve your chosen qualification whilst working closely with experienced employees in an environment focused on safety, teamwork, and leadership.
In the civil construction stream, we are seeking two trainees to complete the Certificate II Civil Construction (12 months). In this role you will work closely with our crews in construction and maintenance activities such as working on roads, footpaths, car parks, drainage structures and much more. On successful completion of this traineeship there may be opportunity for a further 12 months training in truck driving operations subject to performance and operational requirements.
In the concreting steam, we are seeking a trainee to complete the Certificate III in Concreting (24 months). In this role you will work closely with our civil construction teams on everything from general construction to large-scale construction projects, which includes work on footpaths, kerb and gutter, stormwater drainage, and driveways just to name a few. You will also gain exposure and training across civil maintenance, operation of plan and machinery and much more.
We are looking for someone who…
- Is eligible in 2022 to enrol into the Certificate II in Civil Construction or Certificate III Concreting
- Has appropriate language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy skills to manage the educational and professional requirements of the traineeship
- Has a genuine interest in the construction and/or concreting field
- Will seek and accept constructive advice from mentors and more experienced colleagues
- Has a positive attitude to achieve strong results
- Is self-motivated and reliable
- Has the ability to work in a team
- Is able to perform physically demanding and repetitive manual tasks
- Has an understanding of Work Health and Safety principles
